Im sick of people who follow whats popular these days.. its really annoys me - who gives a s**t of the latest trends and the must buys. F**k em all.
Im glad the Punk movement happened, guess it wont happen again cause its turned into a fashion statement... and if you were a punk in the days , you used to put your clothes together with a safety pin cause you couldnt afford any new ones..

Introduction
1"Punk rock is dead...and I fucking killed it." This comment was made by Green
Day front man Billie Joe who inspired me to start my PIP. In these words Billie Joe makes fun of Punk Rock since everyone always questions themselves “who did kill Punk Rock?” My theme of my Personal Interest project “Is Punk Rock Dead I want to find out if it really is dead or if in today’s society if it still lives on. I will be using content analysis the four-part comic written by Jesse Baggs titled “Is Punk Dead?” and I will be analyzing and examining how the media contributes to portraying “The Punk Image”.
Punk has many definitions but what I really require to find out is the definition that will be more precise which will help me provide an answer to the other questions which will be my chapters: “What are the similarities and differences of today’s Punk and since 76?”, “Has Punk become a popular culture?” and “How is Anarchy related to punk?” I’ve decided to interview members from the older generation (30+ years) and someone from the younger generation (13-25 years) to gauge the similarities. I will attempt to be involved or observe the crowd at a concert and find out their punk attitudes and the way they bolster their sense of identity for example with : spiked coloured hair, heavy make up, studded belts, striped socks and chucks. In my trial I will assess factors such as the media and lack of understanding of the Punk Culture amongst our society , and justify that Punk has changed but it hasn’t died.
For a few years I have been interested as a developing adolescent, and have been overwhelmed by the popularity of Punk Rock in modern teen groups and especially from a rebellious point of view. Therefore, it causes persons not to understand why Punks dress and act that way which gives them a negative outlook and treats them as an outcast. My aim in exploring this issue is an attempt to provide an intercultural bridge for understanding. - to identify punks as part of a culture caught between two worlds which differentiate them from a society that does not relate or understand – a popular culture different from any other. It seeks to be a unique identity within society which depicts the ideas, values and feelings for this generation which the older generation perceive in a particular way having changed throughout the years.
I will investigate the course concept ‘time’ . I will be looking at how the influence of media is contributing to the changing stereotypes, changes over time, contributing to the lack of understanding of Punks by different groups in society. I will also asses the course concept ‘power’ and talk about how Anarchy is related to Punk, and how authority and influence which the media contributes to the growing stereotypes about Punks.
A combination of various forms of methodologies will be used to provide fundamental information, which will form the bases of my PIP. Content Analysis of secondary materials such as Newspapers, Books and Internet, will provide me with an in-depth understanding of my topic. My intentions are to determine an extensive overview of perceptions and conceptions, under which punks have been stereotyped. I will also conduct an interview with Jed* a member of the older generation who will contribute his ideas on the focus areas of my PIP.
